So my dreams of being a prima-ballerina never came true. Clearly. However, I’ve always wanted to be that graceful, petite, tutu wearing girl prancing across the stage. As a kid- I danced at every opportunity I had. Any event my parents took me to, I was always front and centre on the dance floor. And that basically happened all the way through my college days. I’m a little more toned down now. LOL
My nephew actually calls me Ballerina as a nickname he has for me. He was never able to say my name as a toddler and this kind of just stuck. I guess I will forever be a Ballerina in his eyes.
This brings me to my love for anything ballet inspired. I’ve been known to rock a sock bun for almost any formal occasion and of course my love for ballet flats. I remember about 10 years ago being on the search for the perfect pair. They weren’t as popular back then, but I was determined. I eventually found them at Nordstrom in California and bought two pairs! I wore those things to death. And since, I am constantly searching for the perfect pair, and collecting the ones I do find. I stumbled upon this pair while browsing the Zara website, and I was in love. And you guessed it…I bought two!! Clearly I have a ballet slipper hoarding issue. I just thought that these were the perfect shade of soft pink, with the flat toe and the elastic across the top….they seem almost authentic. Le Sigh. Click here for my dream pair.
I just got back from a few days in NYC for work, and I knew I was coming back to the office to a desk full of fabrics, samples and to a full inbox. So I paired these soft ballet flats with a flowy shirt, some comfortable leggings and a sheer kimono which I thought added an etheral feel to it all. There is something so feminine about these shoes and maybe it’s just nostalgia or my way of living my child-hood dream- but I will always love this look.
If you have found the perfect pair…let me know!!
Stay tuned for a tutu post. Nope. Not kidding.
